I grew up with my Dad being an accountant, CEO and avid property investor so I feel like money & investment concepts are simply in my blood. I remember going out with Dad in the 70’s and 80’s to do property inspections and maintenance between tenants – he did all that stuff himself. My little brothers and I would play and ride our bikes in the street while he worked. So, no real surprise that I ended up in a lifelong career helping people with their money worries.
Whilst, like others, I can brag about my formal qualifications and my wealth of experience across the financial industry over 20 years, there is, more importantly, a lot of street smart stuff that I learned from my Dad that I put into practice everyday to coach people to their own financial freedom. Practical strategies and tips that really work but not necessarily taught at university!

Yes, I am proud of our achievements as a business, our success and awards won, and I am proud of my team. More importantly though, I get really excited when I see the difference we can add to people’s lives.

Some more fun facts about Darren…
As a way of giving back to the community Darren has been a volunteer tutor with the global self help organisation U3A for five years. U3A is the University of the 3rd Age and is a worldwide self help organisation promoting learning for personal enjoyment and satisfaction. Darren has been a volunteer tutor for the Brisbane campus each Friday. Here he gave his time and shared some insights – such as managing money in retirement, investment psychology, generating income in retirement, managing Centrelink – with U3A members. He is now looking for a new volunteer opportunity.
On the family side, Darren is a Dad of four pretty fab young kiddies – 3 boys and a girl. They live with him one week on, one week off. It is a pretty crazy place when they are all together. It’s a musical and sporty household – and often loud! Darren’s other great loves definitely include food (both homegrown and from other cultures); music in all its forms – and life in general. Oh, and he cooks a mean batch of rissoles!
